My name is Aaron Chaplin and it is my privilege and I am absolutely thrilled to be working with you as Principal of Forrestdale South East Primary School (planning name), a brand new Primary School for students from Kindergarten – Year 6, including students with special needs, currently under construction on Riva Entrance and opening in 2022.
Forrestdale South East Primary School is Our School. It is a place where all are welcome, every child is supported to reach their potential, and the voices of all in our community shape and guide our direction. Together, we’re creating an inclusive school, where students receive support and intervention targeted to individual needs, while having a strong sense of connection and belonging within the school and community.
At the centre of all that we do at Forrestdale South East is each child, and meeting their needs, both academic and social. Our approach to teaching and learning will start with the child, adapting our approaches to meet student needs, drawing on research and evidence-based practices. Above all, Primary school is meant to be fun. It is the spark that lights the fire of lifelong learning, and, at Forrestdale South East, our underpinning philosophy will include a focus on play, kindness, choosing a positive attitude and making the best of every day.
I have been a teacher, deputy principal and school principal in Western Australian public schools for 18 years, from the Midwest, to the Pilbara, the Wheatbelt, and most recently, 6 years as Principal of Edney Primary School in High Wycombe. I have a Bachelor of Education, Graduate Certificate in Early Childhood Education, a Master of Education in Leadership, Policy and Change, and this year will be completing a Graduate Certificate in Education (Special Needs) to ensure that our students will receive the benefit of the latest research and approaches to high quality instruction and inclusive practices in every classroom at Forrestdale South East.
Forrestdale South East Primary School will be a modern, vibrant and dynamic learning place, including inclusive education facilities for students with special needs, a variety of engaging playspaces and art installations, and, above all, a talented staff of dedicated professionals to provide excellence in education, and pathways to success for every student.
While Forrestdale South East is under construction, I am graciously hosted at North Harrisdale Primary School and am available for meetings, or just pop in and say hello. Throughout the year, there will be multiple opportunities for community input, and these will be advertised through this Facebook Page. I look forward to working with you in creating an excellent school for your children and our community.
In leading Forrestdale South East Primary School (planning name), I am guided by my own Flight Plan – the actions that I intend to take to ensure that we deliver on our promise of a place where learning takes flight, for every student, in every classroom, every day.
